We (Infotech) are hiring

Amanda Murphy and I both work at a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner company here in St. John’s, Newfoundland called Infotech.  The company has existed since 1994 and has evolved from a small web development shop to a highly focused SharePoint / .NET application development firm. We also have other arms of our business that focus on Infrastructure and IT resource placements.

We have experienced considerable growth over the past 12 months and are looking for more talented people to come join our team. Right now all of the positions are based in St. John’s, NL so that would require you to be from this area or interested in relocating here. That’s right, while many complain that they must leave the Province and go West to get employment, we have been actually bringing people back East to Newfoundland.

Positions currently open include:

  • Senior Project Manager (7-10+ years experience managing IT Projects)
  • Business Analysts
  • Sales Lead
  • SharePoint Specialists
  • Application Developers (ASP.NET, SharePoint)

If you are interested in coming to work for us and would like to submit a resume, you can do so by either going to our website at www.infotechsolutions.com or by sending an email with your resume attached to careers@infotechsolutions.com.

I just happen to share a birthday with Bob Dylan, May 24.  For the first time in both of our histories, he’s going to play in my home town, on our birthday and I just got tickets.  Talk about a birthday present, woo hoo!

Off topic… A little "Peanuts" wisdom

It is very uncharacteristic of me to post items I’ve received in my inbox, but I’ll make an exception for this one:

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the Peanuts comic strip. You don’t have to actually answer the questions. Just read the through, you’ll get the point.

·         Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

·         Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

·         Name the last five winners of the Miss America pageant.

·         Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

·         Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.

·         Name the last decade’s worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?
The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are not second -rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here’s another quiz. See how you do on this one:

·         List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

·         Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

·         Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

·         Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.

·         Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

Easier?
The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.

Don’t worry about the world coming to an end today. It’s already tomorrow in Australia.

Breaking the Silence

As MOSS adoption increases, so does my workload!  Wow, it has been a face paced year thus far and there are no signs of slowing up.  When I looked around the “SharePoint Landscape” a few years ago I noticed a lack of documented experiences in the customization space and thus this blog was born.  As I look out now however, I see coutless incredibly useful resources.

This got me to thinking, what’s next, how do you look out at todays landscape and get reinspired? After some thought, and brainstorming, I think I have the answer.  Of course if I were to tell you now that would ruin the surprise so I guess you will just have to wait and see what’s in store.  Fear not though, I will be working on a new model and way of delivering similar content.

PS: I have not forgotten about any of the “What do you want to see” replies from a previous post.  I will respond to any I can do justice to in the new format.

Cheers!
