Old habits die hard and one of my habits is labeling .html files, .htm? This isn’t an issue in most cases as it’s perfectly recgonized. However, in the case of SharePoint 2013 if you convert a .HTM file, you will encounter an issue with accessing the “Master Pages and Page Layouts” gallery from Site Settings. In a nutshell, if your custom page is based on a .HTM file, you won’t be redirected to the gallery, instead you will be stuck in preview mode. Simple rename your .HTM to .HTML and it will act normally.
